Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday announced the Assam Government’s highest civilian honour, The Assam Baibhav, Assam Gaurav and Assam Saurav Award. As per the decision of the Cabinet Committee constituted for this award, the Assam Baibhav Award, assam’s highest award, has been presented this time to former Chief Justice of The Supreme Court Ranjan Gogoi. The awards were announced by Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma at a press conference held at Dispur Public Service Bhawan on Tuesday.
According to the Chief Minister, the Assam Saurav Award for the year 2024 has been presented to Elvis Ali Hazarika, Kishan Chand Nadial, Hima Das and Nadial Deori. The Assam Gaurav Puraskar has been presented to Bihuwa Ranjit Gogoi, elephant expert Parbati Barua, sound engineer Debjit Sangma, Ozapali expert Drona Bhuyan and organic agriculture expert Neelam Dutta.
The award has also been presented to entrepreneurs Anupam Deka, naturalist Soumdeep Dutta, farmer Basant Phukan, Manendra Deka for bamboo industry, ASHA worker Meenakshi Chetia, Pakhila Lekathepi, Tentenjing Badosa, Nirmal Dey, Jamesin Kumbangpao, Meri Hasa, Upendra Rabha and Rahul Gupta.
The award will be presented by Assam Governor Gulab Chand Kataria at a state function to be held in Guwahati on February 10. Vice President will be the chief guest on the occasion.
