Arvind Kejriwal faces trust vote in Delhi Assembly. In the 70-member Delhi Assembly, the Aam Aadmi Party had 62 MLAs each, but 54 AAP MLAs participated in the trust vote. Earlier, he appeared virtually before the Rouse Avenue court in Delhi.
The Delhi chief minister had approached the court after ignoring the fifth summons sent by the ED in the Delhi excise corruption case. The ED had filed an application in the court on February 3 alleging non-cooperation in the probe against Kejriwal.
The court had on Saturday directed Kejriwal to appear physically but he appeared virtually only. He told the court that he could not attend the court as he was facing a trust vote in the Delhi Assembly.
Following this, the court has directed him to appear before the court on March 16. So now again the buzz is going on february 19 the ED will also ignore the sixth summon issued to Kejriwal to appear before them.
It may be recalled that kejriwal had suddenly announced that he would face a trust vote even though 62 mlAs were from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) out of the total 70 assembly seats in Delhi. Kejriwal alleged that the BJP was trying to poach seven MLAs of his party. Rs 25 crore has been tried to bribe them.
A total of 54 of the 62 AAP MLAs were present in the trust vote held on Saturday and voted in favour of Arvind Kejriwal in the oral vote. 36 seats or 36 MLAs are required to capture the Delhi Assembly.
Questions have also been raised about how the BJP, which has only eight MLAs, can bring in 28 AAP MLAs in its support. Did Kejriwal do this trust vote drama to avoid appearing in court on the suspicion of a section?
