India is ready to take on China. So the Government of India has taken up various projects for the development of the border. India has taken up a number of projects to ease the movement of troops to the border. Among them was the tunnel being built in Sela.

The Sela tunnel will facilitate smooth journey to the China border. Modi will dedicate this engineering magnificence to the country at an event at Baisakhi in West Kameng.
SELA Tunnel
The Sela Pass tunnel is located at an altitude of 1300 feet. This tunnel will facilitate traffic to Tawang. The tunnel will ensure traffic to LAC in 12 months of the year. Army and army personnel can be shifted to the border on a single basis.
Earlier, the Balipara-Tawang link road was closed for months of the year. Due to snowfall, traffic was disrupted during this previous period. The foundation stone was laid by Modi in February 2019. The construction cost of the 11.315 km tunnel is Rs 697 crore. Under this project, two tunnels have been constructed – one of 980 metres in length and the other 1.5 km in length.
On October 20, 1962, Chinese troops crossed the McMahon Line and entered India through the Tawang border. The Chinese army returned after declaring a unilateral ceasefire ending a month’s horrors. China still claims Arunachal as a part of it. The Chela tunnel will play a decisive role in providing security from China in Arunachal, an integral part of India.
