Today is International Women’s Day. International Women’s Day is celebrated all over the world on March 8 every year. The message of gender equality is mainly spread on this day with the aim of building a better society free of bias.
Although the main aim of celebrating Women’s Day in different parts of the world is different, the main theme of this day is to celebrate this day with equal rights of women, prevention of violence and harassment against women and to pay respect and respect to women.

The celebration of Women’s Day has a history of the struggle for the rights of women workers. In 1857, women workers in a yarn factory in New York in the United States agitated to protest against wage discrimination, fixing working hours, inhumane working conditions. The movement was crushed by the government with a heavy hand.
In 1908, the first International Women’s Conference was held under the leadership of German socialist leader Clara Zetkin at the Women’s Assembly organized by the Social Democratic Women’s Organization of New York. This was followed by the Second International Women’s Conference in Copenhagen, Denmark in 1910.
100 women representatives from 17 countries participated in the conference. It was at this conference that Clara proposed to observe March 8 every year as International Women’s Day.
As a result, since 1911, this day has been celebrated as Women’s Day as Women’s Day. Since 1914, many countries have started celebrating this day as Women’s Day. It may be recalled that on March 8, 1975, the United Nations officially celebrated International Women’s Day for the first time.
Theme for this year
Like every year, this time too the United Nations has taken up a theme on Women’s Day. The United Nations has designated the theme for the year 2024 – ‘Investment in Women: Accelerated Progress’, with a focus on tackling the economic front, while the theme for this year is ‘Inspiration for Inclusion.’
