The day of the Lok Sabha elections in India will be announced today. With the announcement of election day, the election code of conduct will come into force in the country. The election code of conduct will be applicable in the country only after the announcement of the election date. In the 1971 Lok Sabha elections, the code of conduct was first implemented in India. This system was introduced by the Election Commission in the Fifth Lok Sabha.

The minister, the government department will not be able to announce financial assistance. The promise of economic grants of ministers, government departments is prohibited. The ruling party will not be able to lay the foundation stone. Declaration of schemes, projects is completely banned. The government has banned the construction of roads, the provision of water supply. Ad-hoc employment cannot be provided in government, public sector.
Ministers, government departments will not be able to make donations from the Discretionary Fund. Government machinery cannot be used in election campaigning. Government houses cannot be used as election offices. Government advertisements are completely closed. Communal comments cannot be made. Comments that can lead to communal conflict cannot be made. One party worker will not be able to obstruct the campaigning of another party.
Other rules after the election code of conduct
comes into force Public places, helipads should be equally used by all teams. Political news related to the ruling party cannot be shown in the public relations system. The venue of the election campaign and other information has to be intimated to the police in advance.
The code of conduct of the election code of conduct does not have consensual recognition. A case can be registered under the CrPC, People’s Representatives Act. Action can be taken under the Election Symbols (Reservation, Allotment) Act, 1968. The Election Commission can take punitive action under Clause 16(a).
