Allegations of irregularities in UGC-NET 2024 exam, Cancelled of UGC-NET exam
The Union Ministry of Education has announced the cancellation of the UGC NET (UGC-NET June 2024) examination held across the country on June 18 for various subjects.
After several allegations of irregularities in the examination were raised, the central government immediately announced this big decision through a notification.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has also been entrusted with the responsibility of investigating the serious allegations that irregularities have taken place during the examination.
It may be recalled that the UGC-NET June 2024 examination for various subjects was held across the country on June 18.
The Union Ministry of Education announced the cancellation of the examination through a notification on Wednesday.
The notification also mentions that again when the exam will be conducted will be informed by the concerned authorities at a later stage.
According to the notification, the Threat Analytics Unit of the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre under the Ministry of Home Affairs received information through sources about irregularities during the conduct of net exams on Tuesday.
This was then conveyed to the University Grants Commission (UGC) and in view of the gravity of the complaint, the Union Ministry of Education immediately decided to cancel the examination.
It may be recalled that earlier there were allegations of serious irregularities like question-cracking in the NEET-UG examination which has already gone to the Supreme Court.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) and the central government in charge of conducting the exams are facing stiff questions from the Supreme Court.
In a statement issued by the Ministry of Education on Wednesday, it also claimed that strict action will be taken against those involved in the irregularities in view of serious allegations of irregularities in the UGC-NET June 2024 examination.
Rahul Gandhi slams PM Modi over question paper leak
“7 years, 70 leaks, 2 crore victims,” he said, referring to PM Narendra Modi and his party.
Addressing a press conference at the Congress headquarters here, Gandhi launched a scathing attack on PM Modi over the alleged question paper leak NEET-UG and UGC-NET.
“The Vyapam question paper leak scam that took place in Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh have witnessed a series of question leaks in the last few years, this time Modi wants to replicate it across India. ’’
Earlier this year, during his ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’ from Manipur to Gujarat, Gandhi had complained to him about question paper leaks by students and youth.
“The maximum number of complaints came from these three states. On NEET and NET, Rahul said, “One exam (NET) has been cancelled.
Another one is under investigation. I don’t know what will happen in the end. Whether the heads of the crime ring will be caught. ’’
Gandhi said a series of question paper leaks at the Centre and BJP-ruled states under the Modi government have ruined the future of crores of students.
But significantly, he is reluctant to give the whole incident a mere wrap of corruption. “This government has gradually encroached upon the education system.
Educational institutions have been captured. See List of Vice-Chancellors of the University. The BJP and its family’s parent organisation (RSS) are full of ideologies. ’’
“Question leaks are on the rise due to party infiltration in the examination system. This will continue until neutral, competent and honest people are given responsibility.
This government has engulfed the judiciary, bureaucracy, intelligence agencies as well as the education system.
Demanding a radical change in the entire system to avoid the possibility of question leaks in every examination, Rahul said that they will raise the issue of question leaks in the upcoming session of Parliament.
“We had promised in our election manifesto that we will try to put pressure on the government this time,” he said.
But why is PM Modi silent even after one question after another? “I think all his thoughts now are on whether the post of Lok Sabha Speaker is in his own party’s hands or not.
Modi rule is dependent on “marketing” and the combination of fear, he said. “This is the Gujarat model.
“Significantly”, the newly-elected Congress leader from Rae Bareli named Modi’s two predecessors Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Manmohan Singh.
He respected people and he (Modi) wanted to silence them by intimidation. ’’But Rahul claimed that the atmosphere of fear has gradually started to pass. “A 56-inch chest is now 30-32 inches.
The balloon went silent. He (Modi) will be tense. He did not see how slippers were thrown in Varanasi. Could this have been imagined before the Lok Sabha polls?”
‘When will Modi do Pariksha Pe Charcha ?asks Congress, TMC over UGC-NET cancellation
Opposition parties have raised their voice against the NDA government at the Center after the decision to cancel the exams came to light.
On Wednesday night, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge took a dig at PM Modi over the issue of UGC-NET cancellation.
There, the senior Congress leader attacked the Centre over the NET as well as NEET exam irregularities.
“Narendra Modi ji, you have discussed a lot about exams. But when are you doing the NET Pariksha Pe Charcha ?”
He asked, adding, “The cancellation of UGC NET has shocked the sentiments of lakhs of students. He also questioned when the medical entrance exam NEET will be cancelled after NET.
The Congress accused the BJP of playing with the future of the students. “Yesterday (Tuesday) the UGC NET exam was conducted in various cities of the country.
Wednesday, the test was canceled due to allegations of question leak. First the NEET question paper was leaked, then the NET question paper was leaked.
The Modi government has actually become a government of question leaks. ”
Akhilesh Yadav, chief of the SP, the second-largest partner of the opposition alliance ‘India’, said that under the BJP rule, the conspirators of question leaks are becoming active in every major examination.
Akhilesh also called it a “big conspiracy” against the country. Another opposition party, Shiv Sena (UBT), said there was an “emergency” in the education system across the country.
Uddhav Thackeray’s party also said that cancelling exams is not a solution. Rather, the government is emphasizing on transparency and ensuring the future of the students.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has demanded that the National Testing Agency (NTA) be scrapped instead of cancelling the exams. The TMC has demanded the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
The party’s Rajya Sabha MP Saket Gokhale wrote in an X-handle, “The lives and future of students are being destroyed every day under the NDA government.
Yet, shamefully, the government is not taking any responsibility. Saket said that Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan should take responsibility for the failure along with Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.
The TMC leader claimed that Modi has not learnt any lesson from the electoral setback. On Tuesday (June 18), about 9 lakh students took the NET exam in two halves.
However, the National Cyber Crime Threat Analytics Unit of the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (14C), an agency under the Ministry of Home Affairs, found irregularities in question paper leaks, official sources said.
After this, the National Testing Agency (NTA) sent a message to the ministry to cancel the exam.
“The Ministry of Education has decided to hand over the probe into the irregularities to the CBI,” PTI quoted sources in the Union Education Ministry as saying.
The UGC NET exam is conducted in the months of June and December every year. The National Board of Examinations (NTA) is responsible for conducting the exams.
It is a qualifying test for awarding ‘Junior Research Fellowship’ and appointing ‘Assistant Professor’ in various colleges and universities of the country.
The UGC NET was supposed to be held on June 16 this year. However, at the end of last month, it was informed through a notification that the examination day would be postponed to June 18 due to special reasons.
On that day, the examination was conducted through ‘OMR’ sheets in two halves in different examination centers of the country.
A day after the exam, NTA cancels UGC-NET, orders CBI probe
The NET exam organised by the University Grants Commission (UGC) was held on Tuesday. But on Wednesday, it was canceled.
According to news agency PTI, the NET exam for June this year has been cancelled due to allegations of irregularities.
According to sources in the Union Education Ministry, the Ministry of Education has decided to hand over the investigation into the irregularities to the CBI.

Why UGC-NET cancellation within a day of exams? Is that the question behind the scenes?
A day after the examination, the Union Education Ministry said that it was canceled.
Govind Jaiswal, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Education, said, “The matter has been handed over to the CBI for a thorough probe. If there is any irregularity in the NET exam, we will not hesitate to take action. ’’
On Wednesday night, it was announced to cancel the UGC-NET, the entrance exam for conducting research in various subjects.
In this context, the question arises why the exam had to be canceled a day after the exam? So, like the medical entrance exam NEET, has there been allegations of question paper leak on the NET?
Speaking to reporters, Govinda, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Education, said, “We have received several complaints from different quarters regarding the NET.
There have also been allegations of question paper leaks. In this situation, the whole matter needs to be thoroughly investigated.
And that is why the test has been canceled for the time being to look into the matter. “In the UGC-NET exam conducted by NTA on June 18, 9 lakh candidates appeared for the exam.
The Ministry of Education feels that there is a possibility of irregularities in this examination. Therefore, the ministry has decided to cancel the exam. The matter has been referred to the CBI. ’’
“The Ministry of Education will not hesitate to take action against those involved in crime. We are not divulging further details as the investigation is ongoing.”
NTA has its own system and has many stakeholders. The whole thing is under investigation. ’’ On Tuesday (June 18), about 9 lakh students took the NET exam in two halves.

After this, the National Testing Agency (NTA) sent a message to the ministry to cancel the exam. The Education Ministry has decided to hand over the probe to the CBI.
Besides, it was informed that the test will be taken again. In this atmosphere, concerns have been created among the examinees about the new exam date.
The question arises, will the new exam date not be announced until the investigation process is completed?
In this regard, the Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Education said that after looking into the whole matter, a new date of examination will be announced soon. However, he did not give any specific date.
Until December last year, the NET test was taken on computers. Questions came on the computer screen. There were four answers for each question.
Candidates had to choose the correct answer. But in June’s net, that method was changed. The NTA authorities had said before the exam that instead of computers, this time the OMR sheet will be conducted.
Why did the NTA suddenly have to change its system? While Govinda did not elaborate, he said, “There are many stakeholders in NTA. Changes were made keeping all stakeholders in mind. ’’
Allegations of Tejashwi Yadav’s personal secretary involved in NEET question paper leak
Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha said on Thursday. There have been allegations of corruption in NEET in 2024.
Vijay claimed that Tejashwi’s assistant had arranged accommodation for the student in a government bungalow.
However, the existence of the bungalow has also been questioned. NHAI said it does not have any bungalow in Patna.
Addressing a press conference on Thursday, Vijay said Pritam Kumar, an aide of Lalu Prasad Yadav’s son Tejashwi, called up an employee of the Bihar Road Construction Department (RCD).
He called her and asked her to book a room for Sikanderprasad Yadav. Sikander is an engineer by profession. Sikander had earlier claimed that a “minister” was involved in the NET scam.
Sikander said he had booked a room in a government bungalow in Patna for one of his nephews.
The nephew’s name is Anurag Yadav. He was a NEET examiner. Anurag, his mother and a few others were in the bungalow. Anurag is now in jail for alleged irregularities in the NEET exam.
Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Vijay said that Tejashwi’s accomplice had booked a room in a government bungalow in Patna for the accused.
He has conducted a departmental inquiry into the incident. In the video, Tejashwi’s associate Pritam, an employee of RCD, had called Pradeep.
He had booked a room at the NHAI bungalow in Patna on May 1. Four days later, the NEET exam was conducted in the country.
Vijay claimed that Pritam, who had called Pradeep, had his call details. “We want a high-level inquiry into the incident. They are not in power now.
But they are playing with the future of millions of students. Three employees of Bihar’s road construction department, including Pradeep, have been suspended for booking the room, the deputy chief minister said.
Bihar’s NHAI, however, said it does not have a guest house in Patna. So the question of staying there does not arise, as the media is claiming.
They said this in a statement. Sikander claimed that his nephew had told him that he was going to achieve “expected results”.
He also claimed that he was involved in the NEET and UPSC question paper leak racket.
He had arranged food and accommodation for Ayush Raj, Shivanandan Kumar, Abhishek Kumar, Anurag Yadav and Anurag’s mother Reena.
On Thursday, he also claimed that the “leaked” question paper given to him matched with the original NEET question paper.

The Supreme Court on Thursday heard a total of 14 cases related to NEET. Of these, 10 cases were filed by 49 students and one by a students’ body (SFI).
The remaining four cases were filed by the NTA. NTA has sought transfer of NEET-related cases from various high courts in the country to the Supreme Court.
The Supreme Court did not want to stay the counselling process of NEET as of now. The judges said they want to hear the response of the NTA and the central government on the issue first.
After that, a decision will be made. The top court refused to hand over the probe to the CBI without hearing their submissions.
The NEET results were also declared on June 4, the day the results of the Lok Sabha elections were declared. It was seen that 67 people took first place together.
He got 100 percent marks. Many of them took the exam from the same examination center. It is also alleged that the marks given to some candidates in NEET are not possible as per the rules.

Later, when the case came up in the Supreme Court, the Centre also said that the additional marks would be cancelled. Still, the debate didn’t stop.
It is alleged that the NEET question paper was leaked the day before the exam. Arrests have also started in that case.
