Another incident of violence has come to light at Jawaharlal Nehru University in New Delhi. The general body meeting was underway at the School of Language on Thursday night to select the members of the selection committee. During the meeting, the Left-backed groups prevented the ABVP candidate from speaking from the dais. This led to an argument between the group of students.
A heated fight broke out between the Left-backed groups and Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad students. There was also a huge scuffle between the students of the two factions. Recently the video of the incident has gone viral on social media.
Left-backed students have described abvp students as hooliganism of students. They were allegedly beaten up first by ABVP students and attacked them with sticks and other materials.
At the same time, Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad students have also levelled similar allegations against the Left.
Police said they have received complaints from both sides. The police have launched an investigation into the allegations. Several people were reportedly injured in the incident. The injured students have been admitted to a nearby hospital. The student union elections are currently underway in JNU under which a general body meeting is also being organised.
