Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has once again spoken in the Delhi High Court. Kejriwal has moved the high court against the arrest. The high court refused to take up an urgent hearing.
He had filed a petition in the Delhi High Court seeking the immediate release of Kejriwal, terming ed’s arrest as illegal. Kejriwal demanded that the case be listed at the earliest but the court refused to take up the hearing listing Kejriwal’s plea forthwith.
It may be recalled that Kejriwal was arrested in the Delhi liquor policy scam around 9 pm on March 21. The court sent Kejriwal to ED custody till March 28. Earlier Kejriwal had ignored the ED summons nine times.
The ED had filed two criminal charges against Kejriwal accusing him of not submitting summons to the Rouse Avenue court in Delhi. Aam Aadmi Party leaders Manish Sisodia and Sanjay Singh are also currently in jail after being accused in the Delhi liquor scam case.
Kejriwal will be produced again before the Rouse Avenue court at 2 pm on March 28. During the six-day ED custody, Kejriwal will be able to meet his wife Sunita Kejriwal for half an hour every day. Kejriwal’s personal secretary Vibhav Kumar can be met for half an hour.
The lawyer can be visited for half an hour between 6 and 7 pm every day. Senior advocates Abhishek Manu Singhvi, Vikram Chauhan and Ramesh Gupta argued in the court on behalf of Kejriwal. Edison Solicitor SB Raju argued in the court on behalf of the ED. In the court, Kejriwal requested for home food as he was suffering from a disease called hyper glycemia.
The court accepted his plea and allowed timely supply of medical and medicines. The court also directed kejriwal to be given food on the advice of doctors. The ED has allowed food to be fed from home if it is not able to provide food as advised by the doctor.
