These numbers sometimes make someone happy and sometimes make someone sad in the way all ordinary people assume.
It has become an irreplaceable part of India’s democratic system and elections. We get so busy with it that it is becoming a business as well.
Political parties sponsor openion polls ahead of elections. That patronage creates an electoral hawa towards the political party among the people.
However, there are many factors that influence the way it actually translates into results.
A voter may not tell the truth to the agencies conducting such a survey! So the percentage of its actual accuracy decreases.
There is also a challenge of collecting accurate samples while conducting such surveys through random samples from among crores of voters.
On whose side these results are, they support these exit polls and the rest call them insignificant.
In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the NDA will form the government again and these exit polls claim that the BJP-led alliance will get more than 350 seats.
A look at the results of the exit polls released after the 2019 and 2014 Lok Sabha elections shows that many organisations were able to guess that accurately.
But the results of exit polls by several other companies have proved to be false.
The NDA was said to get a maximum of 283 seats in 2014 if the results of all the exit polls were averaged. That time the NDA managed to get 336 seats.
The BJP alone got 282 seats. Should we now consider these exit polls to be true or false? Because that time it was revealed that no party would get the magic number to form the government.
The political atmosphere affects the voters. Many voters do not wish to tell whom they are voting for. It is only natural that if such a voter is accepted as a sample by an exit poll observer, its accuracy will be reduced.
It is a challenging measure. May or may not merge. Amid this buzz of exit polls, the results of the assembly elections in the two states held parallel to the Lok Sabha elections on June 2, 2024, were out.
Voters have decided to form the government by the BJP in Arunachal and the Sikkim Krantikari Morcha in Sikkim.
The SKM won 31 seats, contesting 32 seats, especially in the assembly elections held for 32 seats in Sikkim.
The party that came to power got a total of 53.38 per cent votes this time. The SDF, which was content with only one seat, got 27.37 per cent votes. The BJP did not win a single seat but managed to get 5.18 per cent votes.
The Congress did not win a single seat in this election. The party contested 12 seats but got only 0.32 per cent votes. Notably, 0.99 per cent of the votes were polled in nine in this election.
This is a remarkable aspect. The importance of nine is increasing day by day. Alternatively, voters have pressed the nine button if a candidate projected by a political party is not the voter’s choice.
If such a continuity persists, there may be days when there are more votes in nine than the political parties contesting elections. This is an electoral reality.
The results will be officially announced once the elections are held. If the counting of votes of those results captured in the EVMs is done, the verdict of The Public will come out.
‘Abki baar 400 paar’ will BJP’s slogan be successful?
After PM Narendra Modi first raised the slogan, this slogan was heard on everyone’s face, from other top leadership of the BJP to the grassroots level workers.
The bjp’s main thing, which is contesting this election without issue, was to bring Narendra Modi back to power as the prime minister of the country. For this, the party needs a record number of more than 400 seats.
Although this is the third time that Prime Minister Modi has been seated in the prime minister’s chair, the BJP leadership has so far been heard.
But after the end of the first and second phase of polling, the slogan ‘Abki Baar 400 Paar’ from the mouth of the bjp’s top leadership. Instead, Prime Minister Modi was heard talking about communal polarisation.
Every election meeting was heard only in the context of the Ram temple and the polarising statements aimed at the particular community.
It was from this that it became clear in the middle of the elections that the top leadership could predict in the middle of the first and second phase of polling that the BJP would not get 400 or more seats as expected.
On the contrary, the opposition ‘India’ was enthused. According to this exit poll, this time the BJP will form the government again. But they won’t get more than 400 seats as they say. The NDA will stay at home 300.
According to the exit poll by Republic TV, the NDA will get 362 to 368 seats. According to the exit poll of Republic Bharat Matridge, the NDA will get 359 seats and according to the exit poll of news agency Dainik Bhaskar, the NDA will get 285 to 350 seats.
Confident Congress, I.N.D.I.A will get more than 295 seats
In this meeting, it was decided that representatives of India will go to talk shows of various news channels to be held based on exit polls.
Speaking to the media at the end of the meeting, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge said, “From the information that we have received through discussions with all the leaders of the allies.’
‘We can say with certainty that ‘I.N.D.I.A’ will get at least 295 seats. Not a single more than that but more.
A delegation of ‘I.N.D.I.A’ will also visit the Election Commission office on Sunday to ensure that there is no disturbance in the counting of votes. They will demand that the counting of votes be done safely and accurately.
While the Congress and the opposition alliance ‘I.N.D.I.A’ can capture 295 or more Assam in this way in the Lok Sabha elections, the exit polls have, however, given other indications.
According to the exit poll released so far, the BJP, like the BJP’s slogan ‘Abki Baar 400 Paar’, will not touch 400 seats, but will re-form the government with more than 300 seats.
According to the exit poll of India News De-Dynamic, the NDA will get 371 seats this time. India will get 125 seats.
According to them, they will get 47 seats to go to Annan. According to the exit poll of ‘Jan Ki Baat’, the NDA will get 362 to 392 seats. ‘I.N.D.I.A’ will get 141 to 161 seats. 10 to 20 seats will go to others.
Worried voters, Who will form the next government in the country?
Meanwhile, after the end of the seventh and final phase of polling on June 1, various news organizations as well as other institutions in the country have predicted who will be the next government through exit polls.
Accordingly the next government will re-constitute the NDA. The Congress will have to sit on the opposition seat.
Three consecutive terms of The Congress
The NDA led by the BJP came back to power in 2019 soon after it formed the government in 2014. In these 10 years since 2014, the people of the country have witnessed the rule of the BJP.
In these two terms, the party leaders themselves cannot give an account of how much the BJP has fulfilled its promises during the 2014 elections and during the 2019 elections.
Barring a few religious, political issues such as the Ram Temple, the withdrawal of 370 from Jammu and Kashmir, the party cannot say anything about the welfare schemes as a whole.
As a result of which the party has jumped into this election without issue. From the Prime Minister to the Chief Minister, the BJP leadership is just communal talk.
Apart from this, there have been some other important allegations against the BJP in the last five years.
The BJP is also accused of using the country’s independent investigative agency for political purposes, changing the constitution and trying to destroy the democratic system.
Despite such serious allegations, it is also an important question as to why the BJP is yet to lose power in most states even when it is grappling with many problems like price rise, unemployment, poverty, etc.
The results of the state assembly elections in the two northeastern states of Arunachal and Sikkim were announced on Sunday, June 2.
In neighbouring Arunachal, the BJP won 46 seats, while the Nationalist People’s Party won five seats, the Nationalist Congress Party 3, the People’s Party of Arunachal two, the Indian National Congress one and the Independents 3.
Similarly, sikkim krantikari morcha won 31 of the total 32 seats in sikkim, one of the shortest states in the north-east. The Sikkim Democratic Front won one seat.
The BJP did not win a single seat in this state though the Sikkim Krantikari Morcha is a partner in the NDA. So this state is also not free from the influence of the BJP.
The results of the elections in these two states raise a number of questions. In Arunachal, which was once a Congress stronghold, the Congress has now saved its existence. Out of the 60 seats, only one seat.
Earlier elections in five states of the country namely Mizoram, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Jharkhand and Madhya Pradesh had a similar situation. The Congress has formed the government in Karnataka, the only of the five states.
Despite remaining in power, the Congress also lost Maharashtra and Jharkhand to the BJP. In Mizoram, the Zoram People’s Movement formed the government under the leadership of Laldohoma. This Zoram People’s Movement is also part of the NDA.
These things prove that most of the people are yet to take the Congress as an alternative to the BJP.
The people of the country are yet to forget the misrule of the Congress, the corruption of some Congress leaders.
Moreover, the Congress has not been able to stand as an alternative to the bjp’s central top leadership and the top leadership of the states.
On the other hand, the BJP has strategically made some of the regional political parties whose base is somewhat strong, full of workers who can work at the grassroots level, as part of the NDA.
The BJP has spread across the states riding on the burden of such a party. The Northeast is an example of this.
The BJP does not have its own government in Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland and Sikkim in the north-eastern region, but all these states are nda partners.
Assam’s once-powerful Asom Gana Parishad is now a prisoner of BJP’s nagpas. The BJP had made a dent in Assam by riding on the strength of this party.
Instead, the Congress has also forged an alliance with some regional political parties, but regional political parties have not been able to take the party into confidence to play the role of a ‘BigBrother’ despite the party losing ground under its feet.
Ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, there was a lot of evidence. The lack of foresight of the Congress leadership has led to the division of the united opposition as well.
In the name of a united opposition in Assam, only the Asom Jatiya Parishad and the People’s Party are with a couple of non-existent parties with the Congress.
Many say that these two regional political parties are also forced to accept the same to the Congress.
The Left parties, the Aam Aadmi Party, the Trinamool Congress, etc., have fielded candidates separately despite being in a united opposition.
As a result, the opposition’s own vote was also split. The votes of the people who were fed up with the BJP rule were also shared by a particular candidate.
It is certain that the people of the country want an alternative to the BJP. But despite opposing the BJP, the voters are suffering due to lack of an alternative.
In the absence of a strong national political party, many voters have embraced the BJP again.
But the last assembly elections have also indicated that the importance of regional political parties has increased more than ever before. These regional political parties have been found by voters as an alternative to the BJP in the states.
There has also been an indication of the resurgence of regional political parties, which have weakened in the rest of the region except south India in the past.
These regional political parties are now an alternative to the BJP.
