Finance Minister Ajanta Neog presented a deficit budget of Rs 774.47 crore in the Assam Assembly on Monday. Many announcements are made in various aspects including children, women, youth, etc. through this budget.

The budget seems to be giving special attention to women and girl students. Chief Minister Million Moina (MMNM). Financial grants will be provided to 10 lakh students (one million-million moinas) as an incentive in admission so that they can continue their studies up to higher secondary, undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

Under this, Rs 10,000 will be given to each student enrolled in Class XI as admission incentive money. Similarly, students enrolled in the first year of the undergraduate course will be given Rs 12,500 each and each student enrolled in the first year of post-graduate courses will get Rs 15,000 as admission incentive money.

Mukhyamantri Mahila Udyamita Abhiyan will provide Rs 10,000 each to 39,67,743 women members of self-help groups in rural areas of the state. After availing this facility, each such beneficiary will get a minimum of 25,000 bank loans. Utilising that money and repaying the loan on time will get a subsidy of Rs. 12500.

The Arunodaya-2.0 scheme ensures benefits from antyodaya women as well as persons of the third gender and divyangs. The scope of the scheme has been expanded by covering more than 27 lakh beneficiaries. The budget mentions the construction of another 5,000 model anganwadi centres at a cost of Rs 1,250 crore this year for the bright future of children.

Apart from this, housing for government houses, jobs, police and employees, construction of 10,000 houses with 2 bedrooms of 1000 square feet, again waiving off loans of microfinance of Rs. 550 crore, spending Rs. 1010 on the Chief Minister’s Atmanirbhar Assam Campaign, renovating the courtyard of Maa Kamakhya at a cost of Rs. 498 crores, renovating the courtyard of Maa Kamakhya at a cost of Rs. 311 crore.

Planting of 3 crore saplings, budget allocation of Rs 3500 crore for Assam Mala, solar power projects with Rs 4091 crore, grant of Rs 10 lakh for full-length cinema, assistance to artists of films and mobile theatre, 50 per cent of the money they will get for five years.
