Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave a motion of thanks to the President’s Draupadi Murmu’s address in the Rajya Sabha. In his address, the Prime Minister lashed out at the Congress, saying reservation would not have been available had it not been for Babasaheb. Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru was against the reservation.

The Congress never thought Ambedkar deserved the Bharat Ratna. They advise us. The Congress, which does not have a guarantee for its own leader, has no guarantee of its policies, questioned Modi’s guarantee.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, “I remember Nehruji with respect. Nehruji once wrote a letter to chief ministers. He wrote in that letter – I don’t like any reservation. I never like reservation, especially in jobs. I am against all those moves that represent the unskilled as opposed to the skilled. He said that if the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes and OBCs get reservation, then the level of government work will come down.

“I want to see India as a first-class nation in every field,” Nehru said in that letter. We will be defeated as soon as we encourage the second class.

Nehru said the only way to help the backward classes is to give them good opportunities for education. But if we provide for reservation on the basis of religion and caste, we will lose capable people.

Modi also took a dig at the Congress, saying that every word of Nehru is a stone line for the Congress. It is your actions that reflect your attitude. A small example of that can be given from Jammu and Kashmir. The Congress had deprived the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, OBCs of Jammu and Kashmir of their rights for seven decades.
