But from now on there is no more worry. Because the name of the state fruit of Assam has been announced. Kaji lemon is declared as the state fruit of Assam. The announcement was made by Agriculture Minister Atul Bora on the floor of the Assembly today.
Regarding the quality of Kaji lemon in the House it was said that Kaji lemon has a lot of medicinal properties. The Agriculture Minister mentioned that Kaji lemon are under cultivation on 15.90 hectares of land in Assam.
27 lakh farmers are involved in lemon production in the state. He said the state produces 1.58 lakh metric tonnes of lemons in a year.
The 70,000 Kaji lemon produced in Assam are currently being sent abroad. Kaji lemon have been exported to Dubai, London, Abu Dhabi, Qatar. It may be recalled that on January 5, 2019, Kaji Nemu was given the GI tag.
