Kaziranga National Park is a land of wildlife with one-horned rhinoceros, tigers, elephants, Hippopotamus, crocodiles, etc. The Prime Minister also witnessed rhinoceros known as the ‘Big Five’, the Royal Bengal Tiger, the Asian Elephant, the Wild Water Buffalo and the Swamp deer.

Kaziranga National Park is home to about 3,000 rhinos, 1,100 elephants, hundreds of tigers and the largest number of Asiatic wild buffaloes.

It is worth mentioning that the global population of Asiatic wild buffaloes is estimated to be 3400, of which 95% live in India and most in Assam.

It is to be noted that Kaziranga, which is considered to be the largest habitat of the rhinoceros, a rich family of more than 600 species of birds and shihus, is considered to be one of the most dense areas of tigers.
