A few days ago, Union Home Minister Amit Shah attended a public meeting and announced the imposition of CAA in India ahead of the elections. The Citizenship Amendment Act was passed in 2019.

Now refugees from 3 countries will get citizenship in India. Victims of religious persecution will get citizenship. Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains, Christians and Parsis of Bangladesh, Pakistan and Afghanistan will get citizenship. Those coming after December 31, 2014, will not get this facility.

If they come to India as refugees, such people will get citizenship. Those who are already refugees in India will also get citizenship. You can apply for citizenship on the portal. A separate portal will be created for this purpose. Citizenship application can be filed online.
There has been a nationwide backlash after the CAA came into force.
