The Election Commission has announced the election date. In a press conference today, the Election Commission announced the day of the general elections in the country. The Lok Sabha elections will be held in seven phases.
The first phase of polling will be held on April 19. The second phase of polling will be held on April 26. The third phase of elections will be held on May 7. Voting for the fourth phase of Lok Sabha elections will be held on May 13.
The fifth phase of polling will be held on May 20. The sixth phase of polling will be held on May 25 and the seventh phase will be held on June 1.
In the first phase, 102 constituencies in 21 states will go to polls. In the second phase, elections will be held in 89 seats in 13 states. In the third phase, 94 constituencies in 12 states will go to polls.
In the fourth phase, elections will be held in 96 seats in 10 states. In the fifth phase, elections will be held in 49 seats in eight states. In the sixth phase, elections will be held in 57 seats in seven states and in the seventh phase, elections will be held in 57 constituencies in eight states.
Phase 1 (April 19): West Bengal, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Lakshadweep, Andaman Nicobar, Bihar, Sikkim, Meghalaya, Tripura, Mizoram, Manipur, Nagaland, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh.
Phase 2 (April 26): Kerala, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, West Bengal, Jammu and Kashmir, Assam, Manipur, Tripura.
Phase 3 (May 7): Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, Assam, Chhattisgarh, Goa, Dadra-Nagar Haveli and Daman Diu.
Phase 4 (May 13): Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Uttar Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Bihar, West Bengal, Jharkhand.
Phase 5 (May 20): Ladakh, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Odisha, Maharashtra.
Phase 6 (May 25): Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Odisha.
Phase 7 (June 1): Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Odisha.
The total number of voters in the country is 96.8 crore. Of these, 49.7 crore voters are male and 47.1 crore are female. There are 48,000 voters in the third langar. On the other hand, 1.82 crore voters will vote for the first time. There are 21.5 lakh voters in the age group of 20 years to 29 years.
There will be a total of 10.5 lakh polling stations across the country this time. It will use 55 lakh EVMs. 1.5 crore security personnel will be deployed for the security of all. 4 lakh vehicles will be used for conducting the elections.
