The Election Commission of India announced the dates for the Lok Sabha elections on Saturday. Addressing a press conference, Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar also discussed some of the difficulties faced while conducting elections in the world’s largest democracy.

The total number of voters in the 2019 elections was 90 crore. He said the number of such voters is 1.8 crore, who will vote for the first time and 82 lakh voters above 85 years of age and 2.18 lakh voters above 100 years have been included in the electoral roll.
There will be more than 10.5 lakh polling stations in the country and 55 lakh electronic voting machines (EVMs) will be used. He said that the Commission is committed to holding violence-free elections.
