The world wide fund for Nature or WWF for short will be celebrated by the whole world for Earth hours on Saturday. With an aim to prevent air change and save wasted electricity, the world is gearing up to observe the Earth hour for a full hour from 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm on March 23.
This one hour will make the whole world dark. Because in order to maintain the balance of nature and climate change, the world will observe hundreds of hours by switching off unnecessary lights.
It may be recalled that the WWF has also called for switching off of non-electric lights for one hour in the 18th Earth hour and also to keep mobiles, TVs, laptops, illumination, electrical appliances switched off.
On the occasion of Earth Hours, the Assam Electricity Distribution Company (APDCL) has also appealed to all the consumers to keep the electricity lights switched off during that period if they do not need them for an hour from 8.30 pm on Saturday.
Notably, The Earth Hour is a global movement. So far 190 countries around the world have been part of this great program. All over the world as well as in India this time too, the Earth hour will be celebrated in the interest of protecting the world and nature.
This Earth hour will be celebrated all over the world as well as in Assam. The general administration department of the state government has issued all guidelines in this regard.
The Government of Assam has also responded to the APDCL’s notice has appealed to all government-private institutions, business establishments and the public to celebrate the Earth hour.
