West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee takes a dig at the BJP government over the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister and AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal. Taking a dig at Kejriwal’s arrest as unconstitutional, the Bengal chief minister wrote on his X handle that the opposition chief ministers have been targeted and arrested unconstitutionally.

It may be recalled that the ED had arrested Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in connection with the liquor policy scam. India’s politics is heating up over the arrest of Kejriwal by the ED on the eve of the elections. Opposition parties also criticised the BJP for wanting to play an opposition zero election. It has also criticised the BJP for using the ED to put the opposition in danger.

Taking a dig at the BJP on X, the West Bengal Chief Minister also said, “Strongly condemn the arrest of the Delhi Chief Minister, elected by the people. I have unwavering support for him both in the party and personally.

I have also personally spoken to his wife Sunita Kejriwal. Opposition chief ministers are being targeted on purpose by electing them. The BJP government is using the ED-CBI to join the BJP. This is a cruel blow to democracy. We the India alliance will soon meet the Election Commission in this regard. ‘

It is pertinent to mention here that Arvind Kejriwal was arrested by the ED for allegedly tampering with the liquor scam worth around Rs 600 crore. The Delhi chief minister was finally arrested from his official residence as Arvind Kejriwal did not turn up even after being summoned nine times by the ED.
In the meantime, several applications have been filed in the court for the chief minister’s bail, but Kejriwal has failed to get bail. Meanwhile, amid election schedules, the AAP has continued its protest against Kejriwal’s arrest.
Meanwhile, the Delhi High Court has repeatedly dismissed Kejriwal’s bail plea. Maybe AAP leaders can approach the supreme court.
