Lok Sabha elections. On the eve of the Lok Sabha elections, the Congress party is facing another crisis. Because the Income Tax Department has sent a notice of Rs 1700 crore to the Congress party.
The income tax department has sent the notice to the Congress party after the Delhi High Court dismissed its appeal against the tax re-assessment process. The move comes after the country’s tax department dismissed the party’s plea challenging the move to re-evaluate taxes for four years.
Justices Yashwant Verma and Purushsinh Kumar Kaurav defended the earlier decision by refusing to bar the release of the re-evaluation for an additional one year. The issue under consideration covers the assessment year from 2017 to 2021 after a similar rejection of applications pertaining to the assessment year from 2014-15 to 2016-17 last week.
Addressing a press conference on Friday, Congress treasurer Ajay Maken said the Income Tax department has issued a notice to the Congress directing them to pay a fine of Rs 1,823.08 crore. But the Income Tax department is playing the role of an eye-catcher in the BJP context. According to our data, the BJP has been paying taxes worth Rs 4600 crore in the last seven years. The income tax department’s eyes are only on the Congress.
Maken said the Congress has been fined one after the other. But everyone is silent about the BJP. Attempts are being made to weaken the Congress by such incidents. Section 29 of the Representation of the New Representation Act states how to give the electoral chanda to political parties.
We analysed the last seven years, especially in 2017-18, to find out that the BJP has received donations worth Rs 42 crore. But there is no information about this money being paid. But this year we have been fined Rs 135 crore for Rs 14 lakh.
Maken said that if the Bjp is fined in the same manner as the Income Tax Department has imposed a penalty on the Congress, then the BJP will pay a fine of Rs 4,600 crore immediately. In this regard, we will move the Supreme Court and submit a petition that this Rs 4600 crore penalty should be paid by the BJP.
It may be recalled that the Income Tax department had found discrepancies in congress tax payment in February. Following which the department imposed a fine of Rs 200 crore. The Income Tax Appellate Tribunal (ITAT) had asked the team to clear the dues and freeze their accounts.
Such a notification by the Income Tax Department has created a storm in political circles. The BJP has also been accused of taking the help of income tax department to weaken the Congress during the Lok Sabha elections.
On the other hand, Rahul Gandhi told a press conference that he could not run the election campaign after the bank account of the Congress was closed. The issue then figured on the floor of the United Nations.
India is one of the most democratic countries in the world, the United Nations said. In the name of elections, it should be taken care not to happen in India like in other countries. So that people can participate in free elections. We will have an eye on him.
India responded that India did not have the right to raise its voice on internal issues in both the countries after Germany first reacted to the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. But India has been silent ever since the issue figured on the FLOOR of the UNITED NATIONS.
Meanwhile, state Congress leaders in Rajasthan held a press conference and requested all media outlets to publish congress advertisements free of cost. Rajasthan Congress leaders also said they would return the advertisement money after the elections.
