UCC(Uniform Civil Code) will come into force in Assam soon. The UCC Bill will be introduced in the current assembly session. The UCC will be enforced in Assam after Uttarakhand. Assam is on the verge of becoming the second state to be implemented by UCC.
Many anti-marital laws will also be introduced. A proposal on the UCC bill will be adopted in the cabinet on February 10. Assam will also have ‘One Nation One Law’. The Equal Citizens’ Code will be enacted soon.
There will be no law on the basis of religion in Assam. There will be a uniform law for all citizens. Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma was already in favour of the UCC. There will be no Muslim personal law if there is a UCC law. There will be no Hindu law system if there is a UCC.
