Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu met Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP president J P Nadda in Delhi on Wednesday. There are indications that the two parties may join hands in Andhra Pradesh for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Assembly elections will also be held in parallel with parliamentary elections in the state. Sources said JP Nadda was also present when Chandrababu Naidu met Shah at his residence.
If Naidu returns to the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance, he will be the leader of the second largest regional party after Janata Dal (United) president and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar cut ties with the opposition and joined the party last month.
The two fought together in the 2014 elections when Telangana was to formally separate from Andhra Pradesh. The BJP then fought for three seats and won all the 42 seats in the US.
Sources said there are 25 seats in Andhra Pradesh after the creation of Telangana and the BJP is keen to contest anywhere between six to eight seats.
