The Condition of the Congress, which has been in power for more than 60 years, is now like a duck in the water. The party, which lost power in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, suffered even more setbacks in 2019. The 2024 Lok Sabha elections are on the verge of collapse but till date the party has failed miserably to devise the right strategy to defeat the ruling BJP.
The way the leadership of the party is trying to save the opposition unity platform ‘India’ from being broken on the one hand, on the other hand, some senior leaders of their own party have to be busy after senior leaders. In times of crisis of the party, the issue of leaders above 70 leaving the party joining the ruling party for their own political gains has become a common phenomenon.
It may be recalled that in the congress review meeting held after the elections in five states, it was confirmed that kamal nath in Madhya Pradesh and Ashok Gehlot in Rajasthan led to the party losing this way. The party was defeated because they gave tickets to some unrelated leaders.
Kamal Nath did not need even six months to break the trust with which the top leadership of the Congress handed over the responsibility of the state assembly elections to Kamal Nath. Just three months after the elections, Kamal Nath has now completed preparations to quit the Congress and join the BJP.
Former Madhya Pradesh chief minister and one-time Union minister Kamal Nath’s visit to the BJP has now triggered a nationwide backlash. Again, it is being discussed that the role of these leaders within the Congress is responsible for today’s situation of the Congress.
On Kamal Nath, who is currently in Delhi, a BJP source claimed that Kamal Nath is waiting to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah. It may be recalled that after losing the Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections, the Congress removed Kamal Nath and gave jitu patwari the responsibility of president.
Kamal Nath is upset about this. So he is now moving on to leave the party. However, Jitu Patwari dismissed Kamal Nath’s talk of going to the BJP and said it was media propaganda. Kamal Nath is a Congress member and will remain with the Congress, he said.
It may be recalled that rajya sabha elections will be held in many states in view of the vacant number of Rajya Sabha seats. Though Kamal Nath from Madhya Pradesh had made up his mind to go to the Rajya Sabha, Rahul Gandhi was not interested in sending Kamal Nath to the Rajya Sabha due to the uproar during the assembly elections. In this context, Kamal Nath is preparing to join the BJP and go to the Rajya Sabha.
According to another buzz, only Kamal Nath has to bear the brunt of losing the Madhya Pradesh elections. On the other hand, since the elections, he has been sidelined by the Congress in Madhya Pradesh and jitu Patwari, who is known to be his opponent, has been given the lead in the party. Not only that, kamal nath has also not been given the place of leader of opposition. There is also talk of another Congress leader Digvijaya Singh playing politics behind this. Kamal Nath and Digvijaya Singh are at loggerheads in Madhya Pradesh.
