India, UK as well as the leading 8 countries have shut down TikTok. There have been allegations of stealing data from time to time as to why Chinese video share app TikTok has been shut down not only in the US but also by 10 countries around the world.
Countries that have so far shut down TikTok, respectively
India: The Modi government announced the closure of TikTok after the Galwan Valley clash between The Indo-China armies on May 5, 2020. Because the government had accused Tikkot of fomenting india’s sovereignty and integrity, defence of India, security of the state and public peace and order. So the Government of India banned 59 apps including 2020 TikTok. Most of those apps were Chinese apps.
Pakistan: China’s friend Pakistan also temporarily shut down TikTok in 2020. Pakistan had alleged that the immoral content was being propagated through TikTok.
United Kingdom: On March 16, 2023, the Chinese-owned TikTok app was banned. Cabinet office minister Oliver Dowden said TikTok has been switched off from the phones of all government employees and ordinary citizens for the sake of security of the country.
Canada: On February 28, 2023, the Canadian government issued a notification to delete TikTok from all types of mobiles. Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau said “The decision has been taken keeping in view the safety and security of every citizen of Canada. Chinese companies have collected information about citizens through TikTok. So TikTok has been shut down to ensure that there is no disruption in business or public sector. ”
France: In March 2023, tiktok was announced in the country. The French government adopted this system on suspicion of stealing citizen data. French Minister for Transformation and Public Administration, Stanislas Guerini, said in a statement that ’’recreational″ apps aren’t secure enough to be used .
New Zealand: TikTok was shut down in the nation on March 17, 2023 on the advice of experts in view of cyber security.
Australia: On April 4, 2023, TikTok was banned from mobile apps in the country.
