National Eligibility Entrance Test in short NEET. It is a national-level medical entrance exam in India. Only the NEET exam is accepted as a single entrance test for admission to MBBS in India.
The National Testing Agency(NTA) has specified a total of 720 marks for NEET. The NEET 2024 total marks include 360 marks from Biology, 180 marks for Physics and 180 marks for Chemistry.
NEET-UG 2024 Results Controversy
NEET’s results, published on June 4, have triggered a nationwide controversy. A total of 67 candidates have secured 100 per cent marks this time in this examination conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA).
Six of these examinees are from the same examination centre in Faridabad. This is the first time in the history of NEET that such a large number of examinees have stood first together.
Meanwhile, the NTA is facing several questions. Many examinees and their parents have also complained of massive tampering in exams. Behind the whole controversy is a question of the physics of examination.
This time, among the physics questions that were in the NEET was a very alternative question. A total of two statements were given in this question.
The first statement consisted of atoms being electrically neutral because they have an equal number of positive and negative charges.
The second statute stated that atoms in each element are stable and they emit certain spectrums. There were four options for this question.
They are: 1) The first statement is correct but the second is incorrect, 2) the first statement is incorrect but the second is correct, 3) Both the first and the second statements are correct, 4) Both the statements are correct, 4) both are incorrect.
The correct answer to this question was Option 1. Because atoms in radioactive elements are not stable.
The first option was correct when the NTA published the ‘provisional answer key’. More than 10,000 examinees objected to the third option, referring to ncert’s 12th old book.
According to the examinees, according to the old book, option 3 is correct only. On the other hand, according to the new book, the first option is correct. In the midst of such controversy, the NTA took a decision.
As per this decision, it was decided to give marks to the students who opted for the third option.
“We have given preference to all examinees, who have opted for the third option in response to this question,” the NTA authorities said.
The agency has given 5 marks as grace marks to all the candidates who have opted for the third option.
Such a decision by the NTA increased the marks of a total of 44 students from 715 to 720. In such a situation, the number of toppers has increased a lot this time.
At the same time, NTA authorities say that for centuries, the country’s older brothers and sisters have been giving their books to the juniors.
This system has been benefiting the students. But it is because of such a system that this time there is this confusion between new books and old books in NEET.
He added that the NTA is not pressurising students to buy new books. Even old books have done no harm. This is how we all took books from seniors, gave them to juniors as well.
So we will hold a meeting to address this issue and arrange a proper protocol for such a situation.
Referring to the controversy over giving grace marks in NEET UG exams this time, the NTA said that question papers were distributed 10 to 20 minutes late at many examination centres.
Due to which the examinees had to drop many questions due to lack of time. The NTA has received a lot of complaints in this regard. So many students got grace marks and their marks have increased.
Complaints of irregularities in NEET examination, how 718 were found in 720
The high court has sought an affidavit from the National Examination Agency (NTA) in this regard. A division bench of Justices Kaushik Chanda and Apurva Singa Roy heard the plea on Thursday.
According to the petitioner, the results of NEET show that many candidates have secured 719 or 718 marks.
“If a candidate scores four in a question, how can he get that number?” he asks. The high court has sought an affidavit from the NTA in this regard.
The results were scheduled to be announced on June 14. He also alleged that 67 candidates topped NEET with 720 marks out of 720 marks.
Six of them are from the same examination centre. He also claimed that the NEET question paper was allegedly leaked.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) conducts MBBS every year. and B.D.S. This all India entrance test is conducted for the exam.
The exams were held on May 5 this year at 4,750 centres across 571 cities across the country.
The doctors’ body claims that it is not possible to get that number in any way. Because there are 180 questions, and each question carries 4 marks.
If the answer is correct, number 4 will be matched. If there is another mistake, the number 5 can be deducted.
If a question is wrong, the number obtained is 715. Grace No. 5 is given (which has also been debated), it is 720.
According to the NTA, there were about 2.8 lakh more candidates this year as compared to last year. As a result, the number of full recipients has increased.
At several centres in Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and Chhattisgarh, about 1,500 candidates have been given grace marks for delay in the commencement of examinations.
Due to which the marks obtained by everyone have increased. While questions are asked from the new textbooks of the National Council of Educational Research and Training.
It has also been argued that many people have read the old textbooks. Despite noticing that, giving a grace number of 5 resulted in 44 people scoring full marks.
Supreme Court questions to NTA on NEET irregularities
A vacation bench of Justices Vikram Nath and Ahsanuddin Amanullah was hearing the case on Tuesday.
During the hearing, Justice Amanullah told the NTA’s counsel, “The sanctity of the examination has been damaged.
So we want answers. The judge also asked the NTA counsel, who was present in the court, how many days it would take them to respond.
However, the Supreme Court did not stay the counselling process. The counsel for the petitioner pleaded that the counselling be stopped in court.
The two-judge bench orally said that for now, a reply is being sought on the allegations of irregularities. The counselling process is not being suspended.
There have been allegations of question paper leakage and casting marks in NEET. Many people think that the first place of 67 people together is the result of donating the number of numbers.
On Saturday, the NEET authorities denied virtually all the allegations. He stressed that there was no irregularity in the examination.
But a section of examinees continued to protest in different parts of the country. Opposition parties are also outraged.
NEET was held on May 5 this year. But before the start of the examination, there were allegations of question leaks.
On May 17, a case was filed in the Supreme Court seeking a stay on the publication of the results of the examination.
While the apex court did not grant any such stay, a bench headed by Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud issued a notice and sought a response from the authorities.
The case will be heard on July 8. The next hearing of the case will be held on the same day. The NTA will have to reply to the notice within that time.
NEET director general Subodh Kumar Singh addressed a press conference on Saturday, June 8 on the entire issue.
In this press conference, he made it clear that there was no incident of question paper being leaked during the examination.
He said 1,600 students from just six examination centres faced some problems during the exam.

who have given ‘grace marks’ due to late examinations at several examination centres while appearing for the NEET-UG examination. A two-judge bench of Justices Vikram Nath and Sandeep Mehta is hearing the case.
This time there have been many discrepancies in the NEET-UG test. Apart from giving grace marks to 1563 people due to the mess of time.
This time the highest number of 67 students have topped with 720 marks out of 720. Of these, 8 have topped the exams from the same centre.
Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan reacts
Dharmendra Pradhan claimed that there was no evidence of the question paper being leaked. The education minister said that action will be taken against the guilty.
But no matter what the government says, the opposition has targeted the Modi government over the NEET exam.

Will NEET-UG students get justice?
One student after another has chosen to commit suicide, but the education department, the agencies associated with this department, the concerned officials do not seem to have any sense of responsibility.
Their main task is to increase the stress of the students. The recent situation surrounding the NEET-UG examination held at the all-India level has once again proved that.
During the hearing against NEET-UG tampering in the highest court of the country today, the National Testing Agency (NTA).
Briefly informed that 1563 candidates who were given grace marks will withdraw those grace marks. Instead, the exam will be conducted again for these candidates.
According to the NTA, the exam for these students will be held on June 23. The results of this test will be declared on June 30.
In parallel the question arises whose fertile brain was the product of the decision to arrange this grace mark in NEET-UG? Due to this one decision, thousands of students of the country are now under stress.
On the one hand, the issue of conducting the NEET-UG exam again has brought a new opportunity for the candidates who have secured the grace marks, in the same way.
The students who reached the examination center on time and sat for the exam has also worried. The question is what was wrong with these students?
Only 1563 students will get the second chance to appear for the exam. If these students sit in this exam and get more marks than before, will it not be affected by the student ranking of the rest?
If the ranking of these students is also improved by scoring more marks by sitting in the examination for the second time, then how will justice be done to the rest of the students?
No action has been clarified yet as to what action the NTA will take in case such a situation arises.
Such misleading decisions by the NTA have also brought in reluctance for the students who passed without any problem.
Students fed up with such a misleading decision by the NTA have openly criticised the entire system.
Students are clearly asking why did you take this decision to give grace marks? We had to think beforehand about how complex this decision would create.
Why are you doing injustice to those candidates who sat in the exam late by giving them grace marks in such a way that they were sitting in the examination by following all the rules and rules on time?
Unlike the initial ‘Answer Key’ published by the NTA which showed to be correct, only one other option was correct according to the old book of NCERT.
As the student raised the issue, the NTA decided to score for both the options by fixing both the answers to be correct in order to clear the confusion in this question.
But later it turned out that those who did not answer this question were also arranged to give 4 marks for the same.
This decision of the NTA has also upset the students. That is, if a student left without knowing the answer to this question, he also got an additional 4 marks.
Why was the NTA silent on the student’s questions?
But the question is whether only students with more than 650 marks have studied more. Till last year, only a few thousand students had scored so many marks. This year the number of students scoring so much has increased to 30,000.
This student, Rahul, reiterates that it is because of the grace marks that this whole mess has been created.
We had repeatedly asked earlier whether to conduct the exam again and again. You didn’t answer at that time. Now the exam is going to be conducted for 1563 students.
Another student, Vidya, says, “I had been preparing for this exam for a long time. I was hoping to get good marks this time and pass.
I got good marks with my own hard work but you are going to give a second chance to a section of the students because of the mistake of the ‘system’ due to their mistakes. Won’t that affect our rankings?
